Within this project the extended integration of sensors / photonic devices to CMOS wafers will be developed.

As work package leader for WP7 Integration process steps needed to realize the introduction of a photonic layer or device with low temperature technology either at metallization level or at the backside of AMS CMOS wafer will be investigated. Based on a proprietary concept from austriamicrosystems through wafer contacts to connect backside photonic devices will be developed. In order to build a complete chain of integration, a TIA for 10Gb/s will be designed by TUV and implemented in AMS 0.35µm SiGe technology. Based on wafers with these TIAs interconnection to photonic devices will be provided and investigated in system evaluations.
